BASKA
SCOTTISH OPEN
Sunday 28th November
2004
The British All Styles Karate Association in Scotland
hosted the BASKA Scottish Open, which was held on Sunday 28th November
2004. Graham McCann must be complemented on the organisation of the
event.
BIKO had representation at the occasion. The San-gai karate club from
Middlesborough, under the leadership of Sensei Andy Finn Jnr had an
excellent day, by taking quite a few trophies. I’m sure they
had a happy journey back home.
Sensei Peter Ashby from Tomlincote karate club in Surrey made a fearless
effort in the kumite section. Maybe a few more competitions might
wet his appetite for a future come back to the competition circuit?
Congratulation must also go to Selena Waldropt from Renshinkai Southern
Academy (RSA), who has continued to go from strength to strength since
she gained her sho dan. This should give her even more encouragement
because she nearly completed a double by coming second in both kata
and the kumite. Also she has not competed for nine years. All the
best to the students who took part and I hope they continue to work
hard for the future.
