Open Kata Course with
TOMIKO MITSUOKA 7TH DAN
Venue : Magnet Sports Center, Maidenhead
Mitsuoka Sensei is a former Japanese Ladies Champion and the highest
graded female instructor of Shotokan Karate.
BIKO like any other educational institution, is committed
to excellence, and to providing opportunities for all its members.
Most of the senior BIKO instructors were training on this course,
giving them the opportunity to maintain the links with Karate's Japanese
Origins. The course was supported by instructors and individuals from
all over the country, as well as a contingent who traveled from Wales
for this course. Over 60 people were in attendance on the day.
After going through a warm up and basic karate techniques, under the
guidance of MITSUOKA SENSEI, the class was then divided into Juniors
and Seniors. The Juniors were then taken through KATA by MITSUOKA
SENSEI's Son, whilst the Seniors were taken through KATA by MITSUOKA
SENSEI.
Everybody received attention to their techniques from this very good
Japanese Instructor. This kind of training is good for low grades
and high grades alike, as KATA is the foundation of all traditional
karate.
After the KATA session, there was an optional hour of BUNKI from SENSEI
NICK MACFARREN 5th DAN, whilst the BIKO executive members formed a
grading panel, for those candidates wishing to upgrade.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE STUDENTS WHO SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THEIR GRADINGS.
